Where the data comes from

We do not make our own measurements. Forecasts on this site are calculated from numerical weather models published by national weather services and research centres:

  • Forecasts: a blend of global and regional models, among them ICON and ICON-EU (DWD, Germany), GFS/GEFS and HRRR (NOAA, United States), IFS (ECMWF), JMA (Japan), the UK Met Office model, ARPEGE (Météo-France) and ACCESS (Bureau of Meteorology, Australia). The data is processed with Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0), which we run on our own server.
  • Air quality: CAMS, the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service.
  • Climate history: ERA5, from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) and ECMWF.
  • Interactive wind and cloud map: Windy.com.

The data belongs to the providers listed above. We credit them as their licences require and we do not resell raw data.

How often it is updated

The weather for the cities on this site is refreshed about every 15 minutes. The models behind it are re-run by their publishers several times a day, so a forecast for the same hour can change as newer runs arrive.

How we know where you are

To show local weather without asking, we estimate your city from your internet connection. This is approximate and can be wrong, especially on mobile networks. You can choose another place, or tap “Use my precise location” to let your browser share your position. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Please use forecasts with care

A forecast is a model’s best estimate, not a guarantee, and local conditions can differ from it. For severe weather, follow the warnings issued by the official weather service of your country. Do not rely on this site for aviation, marine navigation, rescue work or any decision where safety depends on the outcome. See the Terms of Use.
